Seems that our wifi connection is overcrowded or something.
While I can connect to our local router without problem, it has been taking me an hour of refreshing my browser to establish my position on the information superhighway.
Instead of an arabic starting page for blogger, I'm getting dutch!
Weird.
Holly in Balad
ReplyDeleteI am deploying to Balad next week. Is the wi-fi network free over there at JBB?
Thank you.
Nope, not free. It's $60/month. The Rec Center in H6 housing has the best coverage, and they are adding routers to various other housing areas. The only way I get it in my CHU (my room in the trailer) was to get a booster with a cable connecting the antennae outside attached to my roof (had to be a squeaky wheel to get Babtel to come out and install it for me).
ReplyDeleteWhat are you going to be doing over here? What unit? Then I might be able to give you more help.
If you are going to use the wifi, bring a router booster with a cable to the antennae.
Thanks for the reply and tips. I leave with the 140th FW, Buckley, CO this week. Gonna be with the 332nd, I think.
ReplyDeleteMost of the Air Force here is part of the 332d AEW (Tuskegee Airmen). What do you do? Which squadron will you be with? When you get here, you will find me in the Rec Center most nights sitting around a table with other laptop geeks - you should know what I look like from this blog so you can introduce yourself when you get here.
